Vestra AI ehf. is the company behind Slapp. It was founded in early 2025 in Reykjavík, and it operates from Reykjavík and Stockholm.
Two founders
Vestra has two founders and two owners: Kristján Leó Guðmundsson and Bjarki Sigurjónsson Thorarensen. Both are technical. The product, the direct advertiser deals with Nova and Domino's, and the partnership talks with Síminn, Iceland's largest telecom, were all handled by the two founders.
The product
Slapp is Vestra's product: an Icelandic social app where every user is verified with electronic ID, launched in early 2026, with more than 22,000 verified users, a Slapp+ subscription and an advertising marketplace for merchants. The case study covers how it is built and run.
Since Slapp
Slapp is the main product. Alongside it, the company built these in 2026.
- Tixly. MCP servers and an embeddable chat widget for Tixly, the Icelandic ticketing company, so an AI assistant can search events, show seating charts, reserve seats and hand off to checkout. Delivered in March 2026.
- Melven. A football picks site at melven.ai where every pick is published and hash-anchored before kickoff, so the record can be checked. Behind it are rating and match-prediction models for the World Cup, the Premier League and the Icelandic top flight. The World Cup model first ran the prediction game inside Slapp.
- PixDart. A mobile game. Every day you are matched with a rival and race to photograph the same object, and a vision model judges the photos. Trophies, streaks and clans. On the App Store and Google Play since August 2026.
- AI Sprint. A two-week on-site training programme that teaches a whole department to work with AI, offered to Icelandic companies at vestra.is.
- Orderbind. Replenishment planning for wholesalers and retailers: forecast demand over the exposure period, turn a service target into an order quantity, and place the order with the supplier. Prototype stage.
- tilraunir.is. An Icelandic site for learning physics through guided experiments, with measurement forms, curve fitting and simulations for students and teachers.
