I am Bjarki. I live in Stockholm, where I study machine learning at KTH and build Slapp with Kristján.
How I work
I work with LLM-assisted development and across the whole stack. On Slapp I write the React Native screens, the Convex functions behind them, the crons that train the models, and the admin pages that show the training results.
Languages
Icelandic is my native language. My English is fluent. I am studying Swedish, currently at A2.
Outside work
Football first, and I play as well as watch. I came up through the youth teams at Víkingur in Fossvogur, so the question of which Icelandic club I support was settled early, and as the reigning champions they have made it an easy one to keep. Since 2023 I have played up front for KÁ in the lower divisions. The KSÍ profile keeps the numbers: 109 senior matches and 107 goals so far, 35 of them in 2025, the season we went up a division. Moving to Stockholm has cut into it, so the 2026 row is shorter than the others. The other club is Manchester United, which has been an exercise in patience for over a decade now, and I am not going anywhere.
I like maths, and more broadly I like any problem you can sit down with and reason through properly, whether that is a probability puzzle, a model that is not behaving, or a league table in October. That is probably why the machine learning stuck: the models in Slapp are the same kind of problem with 22,000 people on the other end of it.
Most of the time football does not take goes on programming, YouTube, or whatever my girlfriend and I are up to. I love to play golf and get out in the few months a year that Iceland and Stockholm allow it, and I am always up for a beer and a night out with friends. I will not turn down a game of poker or chess either.
